“A makerspace is a physical location where people gather to share resources and knowledge, work on projects, network, and build. Makerspaces provide tools and space in a community environment—a library, community center, private organization, or campus. Where these spaces are open to use by faculty, students, and staff from a cross-section of content areas, they promote multidisciplinary thinking and learning, enriching the projects that are built there and the value of the makerspace as an educational venue” ( EDUCAUSE, 2013).
“The maker movement, a technological and creative learning revolution underway around the globe, has exciting and vast implications for the world of education. By embracing the lessons of the maker movement, educators can revamp the best student-centered teaching practices to engage learners of all ages” (We Are Teachers, 2013).
